Live Programs for Young Animal Lovers

From Smithsonian’s National Zoo’s Conservation Biology Institute, Conservation Classroom is a collection of lessons for K–5 students that include live virtual programs each month, from September through May. Each lesson has four elements: Wonder (preprogram videos that introduce the monthly topic), Engage (live, 45-minute virtual programs with a National Zoo educator), Act (synchronous and asynchronous activities to extend the lesson), and Connect (videos that introduce students to staff with “unZOOsual” careers). The programs and materials support the Next Generation Science Standards and are designed for multiple groups of students to join and learn together.
