A high school teacher has developed an online site to match school proposals with donors. The mission of DonorsChoose is to help students in impoverished schools. It serves New York City public schools but there are copycat agencies springing up in other regions–some okay and some not so good.
Because the process is straightforward, bureaucratic costs have been eliminated. Grants of books, field trips,say, indicate the scope of this web-based concept.
