Bill of Rights Institute: Being an American

This resource has been recently redesigned! It now includes a differentiated learning approach and has been adjusted for use in lower grades which will also be valuable for ESL students. Lessons contain vocabulary glossaries and shortened versions of primary sources that hold students’ attention while fostering critical thinking.

Through primary source analysis, writing assignments, discussion prompts, and other activities, students will “connect the dots” by focusing on the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, civic values, American heroes, and exploring the meaning of citizenship to them.
