Think about the faces sitting in your classroom each day. Are you envisioning them? How many of them know the types of careers available to them? Probably most of them don’t. And career exploration isn’t something that should wait until college to happen. College is when they should select a career but they should be exposed to a variety of careers before that. Careers that make them curious and want to know more, and careers that make them say, “That’s definitely not for me!”
There are so many future jobs that our kids will hold that relate to science. As science teachers, it’s our job to help them see the potential now. To help them explore what a job might look like To help them scrutinize their passions, their strengths, their weaknesses.
